It's that time again! Another month is about to roll over and despite the flurries last night we are officially in spring! It's time to take a look back at the Month and see what went well and what didn't. March has been a busy month and a slightly disappointing one. In my February In Review post I had a lot of goals around my graphic novel. Unfortunately, I haven't had much contact with the artist over the month and so I haven't been able to move forward with that project. I am now in a position where I may have to start looking for another artist.
GOALS FOR MARCH
- Create concrete contract for Graphic Novel
- Begin creating/building online presence for Graphic Novel
- Secure url for Graphic Novel
- Revise Prologue and Chapter 1 of GN to fit art style.
- Hammer out timeline with artist.
- Sign up for writing course.
- 2 articles for online mag
- 4 articles for RoPS
- 4 articles for this blog
- Read 1 business related book.
Aside from the struggles with the graphic novel I did manage to achieve a lot of my goals around my blogs. I managed to surpass my four posts for Reading Over People's Shoulders. I was also able to do more than four posts for this blog. I started my resource page, Writer's Arsenal, and updated it with a few tools and resources I find useful.
I did not, however, sign up for a writing course- primarily for financial reasons. Hopefully this is something I will manage to do in the spring time.
I also did not manage to read any business related books- mostly because I was too busy devouring more romance novels. I am calling it research for one of the next novels I intend to write/complete.
Though I did not manage to get two articles for Step On Magazine completed I did manage to submit my first piece. It was well received and has done well. It was in the top three features viewed for the week and top ten for the month. Not too shabby! I am looking forward to submitting additional pieces in April.
I focused a lot this month on getting a steady update schedule for all my writing outlets, which I think I managed successfully. I hope to maintain this through April. However, April is going to have a more fiction based set of goals.
I will be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo with some of my fellow Wordpress writers and bloggers. My goal for April is to complete my 2013 NaNoWriMo novel. I've set a target of 20,000 words for the revised ending but I'm not sure if that goal is helpful. Really, the ending will be however long it needs to be. Hopefully by early summer I will have a manuscript ready for beta readers!
Goals for April:
- seek out new artist if necessary, for graphic novel.
-Maintain blog schedule(s)
-submit 2 pieces to Step On Mag
-Complete novel (Camp NaNoWriMo)
Considering I had some health challenges this month, a stressful/busy month at the day-time job, and have been doing some overhauls to my time management and scheduling- I think I had a rather productive month. I am looking forward to the warmer weather of April and to finishing my first novel.
Did you achieve your monthly goals for March?
